In this course, you will explore materials that will serve as a tool to critically navigate college issues ranging from developing effective time management and organizational skills to navigating faculty relationships, college classes, finances, among others. You will also engage in weekly discussions designed to guide first year students to elicit self-discovery and awareness that promote informed choices and decisions during college. Through careful reading and discussions, this course will allow you to engage more intentionally with all aspects of being a successful college student and develop a critical lens to position yourself within your educational context. This course is part of a first-year experience designed to support students in building their academic and career readiness and financial literacy skills. FOUN 101, Planning for Career and Financial Success, covers the following topics: major and career exploration; how to build professional skills; resume building; networking; the components of wealth and how to build wealth; how and why to work with a budget; behavior and finance; credit scores; debt management; and basic economic principles.
