Description:
This course explores the diversity of biological and ecological processes that shape life in the oceans. It places special emphasis on marine life in New England, focusing on the interactions between humans and the sea. This focus leads to a greater understanding of the consequences of ongoing environmental changes witnessed in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Notes:
Note about pre-requisites: You must have taken at least two of the 4 courses at the 200 level from the list above or otherwise obtain permission. This requirement is to ensure that you have a basic background in ecology, oceanography, or marine organisms that will be necessary for the course. On day 1, basic biological concepts that are foundational to the course will be reviewed.
Pre Requisites: Pre-requisite = At least two of the following courses: BIOL 290, BIOL 252 or 254, ENVSCI 226, ENVSTY/ENVSCI 267L
