Cardiovascular Aspects of Exercise in Clinical Populations

Description:
This course is designed to address specific principles and concepts of cardiovascular physiology as they apply to physical work in clinical populations. Topics covered include cardiac function, blood flow, and vascular function. This course engages in discussion of cardiovascular responses and adaptions to both acute and chronic aerobic and resistance exercise training. In addition, the beneficial effects of exercise on the components of the cardiovascular system and the mechanisms through which regular exercise provides cardioprotection are highlighted. Abnormal cardiovascular response and adaptations to exercise/exercise training in clinical populations will also be discussed when relevant.

Pre Requisites: Pre-requisite: EHS 685 or permission of instructor
