Course Topic: Critical Whiteness in Higher Ed.,Description: This elective examines how institutional systems, policies, and leadership practices reproduce and protect whiteness within U.S. higher education. Anchored in Cheryl Harris's (1993) theorization of whiteness as property, the course provides a critical framework for analyzing how rights of control, access, reputation, and ongoing privilege are structurally embedded in institutional life. Students will engage scholarship from critical whiteness studies, critical race theory (CRT), organizational theory, and higher education policy to investigate how whiteness functions as an institutional asset and organizing logic. Through applied analysis and research-driven inquiry, students will develop equity-centered leadership approaches and propose interventions aimed at disrupting property interests in whiteness across academic, administrative, and governance contexts.The course material costs for this course are unknown
