Description:
This course addresses theories and contemporary issues a in the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA), presenting a survey of the major SLA research findings collected in naturalistic and formal contexts during the last fifty years. Topics include the role of the learning environment in language acquisition, explanations for different levels of success among second language learners, variations in second language use, and the effect of classroom instruction on second language acquisition. The course provides students with an opportunity to reflect on both theoretical and practical considerations in the field of language learning and teaching.
