Beyond the Classroom: Bringing your Degree out into the World
Course #: WGS 492, Class #: 5094, Section #: 01
Description
So, you're getting a major or minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, a minor in Queer and Trans Studies, or a minor in Human Rights¿now what?? This course will contextualize your degree in the history of these fields and prepare you for whatever is next¿whether that's career, more schooling, or something else entirely. Our focus is to take what you¿ve learned over the past few years and bring it out into the world. WGS 492 functions as a capstone experience in which you synthesize knowledge from across your degree and apply feminist theoretical frameworks to real-world contexts. We will critically analyze institutions such as workplaces and nonprofit organizations using concepts from Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Human Rights and Queer and Trans Studies while developing professional capacities grounded in this analysis.
