Applied Biostatistics

Description
This course provides an introduction to applied biostatistics and corresponding statistical computing using one of common statistical software such as Statistical Applications Software or Stata. Course content includes basic probability, estimation using descriptive statistics, i.e., means, proportions, variances, correlation, and linear regression. Inferential statistical methods based on the central limit theorem, confidence intervals, and p-values will be covered. Hypothesis testing will be conducted for 1-sample, 2-sample, 2-sample designs using analysis of variance (ANOVA), analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), linear regression and logistic regression.
Prerequisites
EHS 280 (Statistics for Health Professions) or equivalent.
